Officers Assigned to District B2 Make Onsite Firearm Arrest Following Traffic Stop

At about 2:30 AM on June 5, 2022, Officers assigned to the District B-2 Anti-Crime Unit made an onsite firearm arrest of Darius Sims, 34, of Boston, in the area of 126 Hamilton Street in Dorchester.

Officers were on directed patrol in the area of Bowdoin Street and Geneva Avenue when they observed a vehicle with excessive tint and without headlights fully illuminated. Officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle in the area of 126 Hamilton Street. Due to several on-scene observations, Officers believed that the operator, Darius Sims, may be in possession of a firearm. Officers issued an exit order and, upon conducting a pat-frisk, recovered a loaded firearm and a white, rock-like substance, believed to be crack cocaine. Sims was taken into custody without further incident.

The firearm was determined to be a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9MM with one (1) and in the chamber and eight (8) rounds in the magazine.

Sims is to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a firearm (subsequent offense), Carrying a loaded firearm (subsequent offense), Unlawful possession of ammunition, and Trafficking Class B.
